Good evening everyone, and welcome to the Season 78 Victory Hockey League Awards Show, presented by VSN! It's me, ya boi Doomsday, back yet again as your host! We're here again tonight to wrap up another fun season here in the VHL, one of significant importance to me, as Season 78 marked the final season of the Class of Season 71, bringing the career of the player I returned to the VHL with to an end. But for the rest of us, we had a season filled with tight competition, and the crowning of a new champion.

Season 73 brought us four new franchises to the VHL, and it hasn't taken them long to make their marks on the VHL. The Chicago Phoenix rose to the top of the league in Season 76, and just two seasons later, the Warsaw Predators became the second of the four expansion franchises to win the Continental Cup, denying the Seattle Bears the repeat in a thrilling six game series, sending General Manager Damien Walec @.sniffuM into the sunset as a champion.

Tonight, we'll celebrate the best moments and accomplishments of Season 78, as we award the VHL's best the hardware that could cement their status as a legend of the game. I'm ready, you're ready, so let's get the Season 78 Awards Show started!

From the start of the season, it was evident that the Warsaw Predators were a force to be reckoned with. Competition was fierce in the European Conference, but the Predators were the clear class of the conference, finishing 11 points ahead of the second place London United by season's end. Led by a torrid season by Aloe Dear @Renomitsu, the Predators feasted on the competition all season long, falling just short of the Victory Cup on a tiebreaker. In the playoffs, Dakota Lamb @dlamb averaged an insane two points per game, finishing with 34 points in 17 games, leading Warsaw past the Malmo Nighthawks and Prague Phantoms to the Continental Cup Finals against the defending champion Seattle Bears. With strong performances from former Bear Uhtred @leafsman, Lexi Glass @AW13, Chris Reynolds @Crstats23, and veteran netminder Ajay Krishna @Hooperorama, the Warsaw Predators prevailed in six games, reaching the top of the VHL just six seasons after entering the league and ending General Manager Damien Walec's @.sniffuM tenure with the team he brought to the VHL with a Continental Cup!

Congratulations to the Warsaw Predators, the Season 78 Continental Cup Champions!

General Manager Jeff Dee @JeffD once again had his Chicago Phoenix ready to roll, and they quickly established themselves as a top team in the VHL. In a North American Conference that was primarily a two-horse race with the Seattle Bears, the two teams were constantly jockeying for the top seed all season. Behind the trio of Lee Xin @Blazzer , Robin Winter @Sonnet, and Christian Mingle @Quik, Chicago finished the season with 98 points, tied with the Warsaw Predators. Even though Seattle finished with a league-high 45 wins, they finished with 97 points, giving the Phoenix the top seed in the North American Conference, and due to a higher ROW, the Victory Cup.

The Alexander Beketov Trophy, awarded annually to the player(s) that lead the league in assists, is one that lately seems to be an award for a defenseman to get, but Andrew Su @Da_Berr became the first forward since Season 68 to lead the VHL in assists last season. Once again, a slew of defensemen racked it up on the scoresheet by setting up their teammates. Matty Socks @fishy and Chris Hylands @hylands both finished with 68 assists, with Kasper Kankkunen @16z and Spencer Elsby @Spence King recording a very nice 69 assists. Linus Zetterstrom @Ledge and Dairy enjoyed a monster breakout season with Riga, recording 70 assists, and James Rose @MattyIce averaged an assist per game with 72 in his final VHL season. But for the second season in a row, a forward led the league in assists, as Aloe Dear @Renomitsu recorded a VHL-best 74 for the eventual Continental Cup champion Warsaw Predators. Are playmaking forwards making a comeback to the ranks of the VHL? We'll have to stay tuned to find out, but big props to Aloe Dear for a fantastic season!

The Kevin Brooks Trophy, awarded to the player(s) who lead the VHL in goals scored, once again featured a climatic race for the right to be called the VHL's top goal scorer in Season 78. Chris Reynolds @Crstats23 had a career year in which he potted 46 goals, and Isabella Campbell @Banackock topped him with one more at 47. The big race was between Kevin King @IamMOOSE and Christian Mingle @Quik, who both spent time atop the leaderboard throughout the season, and ultimately they both finished the season with 49 goals each. However, an absolutely torrid finish to her season saw a dark horse emerge out of seemingly nowhere to become the VHL's goal-scoring queen: Robin Winter @Sonnet. With a spectacular 50 goals, Winter seemingly could not miss as the season wound down, and completed her season in style with an unexpected Kevin Brooks Trophy!

We've covered the league leader for goals and assists, so we now make our way to the Mike Szatkowski Trophy, awarded to the VHL's top point scorer! We had five players score over 100 points this season, with Isabella Campbell @Banackock falling just short with 99. Chris Reynolds @Crstats23 broke out in a big way for the Warsaw Predators, topping 100 points for the first time and became a huge part of their championship season. A trio of Chicago Phoenix players, Lee Xin @Blazzer , Robin Winter @Sonnet, and Christian Mingle @Quik all topped 100 points, with 109, 108, and 105, respectively, forming the most fearsome line in the VHL. In spite of that, however, was the runaway winner, Aloe Dear @Renomitsu with a staggering 118 points, a casual nine points more than Lee Xin's 108. It was a dominant season for Dear, a major contributor towards Warsaw's first Continental Cup in franchise history.

Let's get our padded friends of questionable sanity involved now, shall we? It's time to name our Greg Clegane Trophy winner, which is awarded annually to the goaltender with the lowest goals allowed average amongst starting goaltenders. Among all goaltenders, that would be Jacob Carson @jacobcarson877 of the Prague Phantoms, who put up a phenomenal 2.17 GAA in 11 appearances. Rookie netminder Andrew Bowman @BrutalBoost was also phenomenal in relief for the Moscow Menace, with a 2.71 GAA. But amongst starters, Jean Pierre Camus @solas came close to getting his first Clegane with a 2.89 GAA, but it was Jacob Tonn @MexicanCow123 getting his third Clegane Trophy in his final season with a 2.82 GAA! Not a bad way to wrap up a career, although unfortunately early as it may be.
