Game 13

:mal: Malmo Nighthawks :mal:

vs

:war: Warsaw Predators :war:

Tuesday nights tilt between the Malmo Nighthawks and the Warsaw Predators featured two teams who both tasted defeat in their respective season openers. But in this one, somebody's 0 had to go! The first period saw rapid end-to-end action. It was back and forth but neither team's goalie would concede the opening goal. The period ended scoreless, but that didn't last long as the Nighthawks came storming out in the second period like a bat out of hell!! (RIP Meat Loaf) The period saw Malmo erupt for four goals in just under 11 minutes, two of which came off the stick off budding megastar @scoop Taylor Mourning.  At the end of forty minutes, Malmo was up with a commanding 4-1 lead heading into the third. The Malmo barrage continued, but Warsaw goaltender @Trunkxolotl Tater Tot did everything in his power to keep his team in it. While Warsaw added a goal in the third, it was too little too late, as the Nighthawks doubled up the Preds by a final score of 4-2. These rivals will see plenty of each other in the EU conference down the road this season, but for now the Warsaw Predators will just be looking to get themselves a point as they are the only VHL club that is pointless after two games.

:que: Kitty-cats no match for Dragons :dcd:

Those who tuned in to watch the game between Vancouver and D.C Dragons got their money's worth. 8 goals in the first period alone! Vancouver got an early lead, but the Dragons scored three goals in under 60 seconds. The Vancouver coach was looking towards the exit, but the assistant coach managed to calm the coach down by stating the bus is not going to be there in at least an hour. Vancouver did not let the darkest of minutes ruin their evening. Vancouver scored two quick goals in 35 seconds. The first period ended 4-4 as R showed their former team how it's done, and Kitson scored for Vancouver. What a first period.

The powerplay is a weapon for Vancouver. Tucker made it 5-4 early in the second period. The goal by Tucker was the third powerplay goal for Vancouver in the game. The scoring did not stop there. Johnson made it 5-5 when just over five minutes was left. D.C player L got a two-minute minor for boarding at the end of the second. L pushed Jivere Zolnek against the boards in a violent fashion. Vancouver players wanted a five-minute penalty, but the referee did not let the Vancouver players meowing affect their decision-making. 5-5 after two.

This time around it was D.C's turn to start strong. R scored their second goal of the game, L got the assist. Despite the offensive firepower of Vancouver, the shots were close in the third. Things were looking good for D.C, they were leading 6-5, and only a few minutes were left, but then Hari Singh Nalwa managed to tie the game. 6-6, it was time for overtime.

Neither team wanted to score in the overtime. Both teams had two shots. Dragons played smart by holding on to the puck, but many questioned the lack of aggression in Vancouver's forecheck. No surprises, the OT was uneventful. A shootout was next.

The hero was D.C goalie Taffe. The D.C goalie stopped two shots and bullied T.Reinhart into shooting wide. Johnson and Lambert scored for D.C.  J.Reinhart was the only one to score for Vancouver.

Dyrdahl and Vidot were the first ones to congratulate Taffe after the shootout. Their attempts were described as ''shit'' by the live commentator. Tucker, T.Reinhart, and Kitson were reportedly ordered to walk back home.

Dragons win 7-6 after the shootout.

Gucci Makes Immediate Impact For Phantoms

PRAGUE - Free agent signing Its Gucci @frescoelmo wasted no time endearing himself on home ice, scoring the Prague Phantoms' first goal of the season on the power play just over two minutes into the game and added two assists to power Prague over the Malmo Nighthawks 4-2 in their season opener

Darth Kaprizov @Darth Kaprizov, acquired through a trade with the HC Davos Dynamo over the off-season, also had a strong debut with his new club, scoring a goal and an assist. Despite getting a goal and an assist from Brendan Telker @Telkster, Malmo was unable to fluster goaltender David Davis @Josh, who stopped 31 of 33 shots to backstop Prague to the win. The Phantoms' early success had Malmo playing from behind virtually the entire game, with Davis and his defense able to shut the door and preserve the lead.

Despite Malmo putting the pressure on in the third period, Kaprizov beat Artem Tretiak @Molholt with just over a minute to play, essentially icing the game for Prague and providing the final score of 4-2. After a tumultuous off-season, getting a big win over a conference rival on opening night is a great sign for the Phantoms' potential as they travel to Malmo for a rematch with the Nighthawks.

Davos Erases Two-Goal Deficit To Top New York

DAVOS - Despite falling behind 2-0 in the first period, longtime HC Davos Dynamo goaltender Kunibuni UnGuri @Berocka stood tall and paved the way for the Dynamo to mount a comeback and shock the New York Americans 4-2 for their first win of the season.

Luc Tessier @KC15 scored two goals on consecutive shifts to begin the third period, giving Davos a two goal lead they would not relinquish, with Trevor Wallace @LilHCorny and Cabe McJake @Red combining for seven blocked shots in support of UnGuri. Javad Kamkar @Parriyah9374 and Kyle Glass @Tbeez99 scored for Davos in the second period, their first goals of the season, with David Tavau @Ahma tacking on two assists.

For New York, it’s a frustrating game to lose after defeating the D.C. Dragons in their home opener. Gary Tarantino II @Garrett and veteran Jakub Sosa @TMGSosa put up two goals in the first ten minutes of the game, but the Americans would fail to score again following Sosa’s goal at the 10:39 mark of the first period despite outshooting Davos 39-35.

New York will host the Los Angeles Stars in their next game, with Davos hosting the two-time defending European Conference champion Moscow Menace.
