The VHLM delivered another group of top-flight rookies in Season 76, but only one can be the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy winner! Awarded to the player deemed to be the top rookie of the year, we had five rookies who really stood out this season! Dominic Gobeil @Domg5 didn't let his unknown status deter him from being a huge piece of the Prague Phantoms' resurgent season, scoring 71 points and establishing a physical presence with 185 hits. First overall pick and consensus favorite to win the award, Red Lite @Tate led all rookies in scoring with 80 points, nearly becoming a 40 goal scorer in his first season with the New York Americans. Rookie netminder Rara Rasputin @Victor was impressive in net for the Seattle Bears, winning 33 games with a .917 save percentage for a franchise looking for their next franchise goaltender. Chicken Wing @chikn shined from the blue line with the New York Americans, recording 61 points and blocking 181 shots. Lastly, Linus Zetterstrom @Ledge_and_Dairy established himself as a tremendous talent as a defenseman for the Riga Reign, scoring 74 points, including 13 power play goals, along with 166 blocked shots!

Let's find out who will be taking home the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy this season! Your winner, and top rookie of the VHL, is...

Red Lite!!

That huge roar you heard was a big part of our community celebrating nailing a prediction point with Red Lite's win, and that just goes to show you what kind of hype he had as a rookie. This might just be the most contested award we have tonight, as Lite squeaks out the win by one vote over Zetterstrom, Gobeil, and Rasputin! It's been a rough going of late for Esso Drunkmann @Esso2264 and the New York Americans, but Red Lite is yet another smash hit prospect making waves in the Big Apple. With 39 goals and 41 assists for 80 points and a +9, he was an immediate contributor for New York, and with Rhynex Entertainment @Rhynex Entertainment and Gary Rush @G_Rush taking the VHL by storm, things are suddenly looking very bright for the Americans.

Congratulations to Red Lite, your Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy winner!

Voting:

Red Lite: 3, Linus Zetterstrom: 2, Dominic Gobeil: 2, Rara Rasputin: 2

The Dustin Funk Trophy, our next award,  is given to the most improved player in the VHL, and we had no shortage of players who took their game to a new level. In the twilight of her career, DC Dragons blue liner Cinnamon Block @omgitshim saved the best for last, improving by over 40 points to finish with 99, along with increases in hits and blocked shots. Jean Pierre Camus @solas was instrumental to the Chicago Phoenix's Cup run, winning 43 games and improving to a .922 save percentage and a 2.85 GAA. John LeClair II @flyersfan1406 had a breakout campaign with the Prague Phantoms, becoming a 30 goal scorer and more than doubling his point production, going from 29 to 71! Another major contributor to Chicago's championship season was Christian Mingle @Quik, who launched himself into VHL prominence with a 43 goal, 93 point season, complete with 354 hits, second in the league. Chris Reynolds @Crstats23 took a major step forward in Warsaw's memorable season, doubling his output to 73 points, including 35 goals. Lastly, we have Jacob Tonn @MexicanCow123, who went from being a good goalie to a great one with the Moscow Menace in Season 76, with 46 wins, a .927 save percentage, and a 2.46 GAA, picking up the Greg Clegane Trophy earlier in the show.

Christian Mingle!!

Anyone in the VHL looking to find a good, pure match-up through Christian Mingle was more likely to find themselves put on their rear end instead, as Mingle played a mean, physical game this season. But while Mingle has been known for being a bully on the ice, Season 76 saw an explosion of offensive talent from the hard-nosed forward, becoming a 40 goal scorer and breaking 90 points. People have been wondering who is primed to become the next great power forward after Mikko Lahtinen hangs up the skates… you found him.

Congratulations to Christian Mingle, winner of the Dustin Funk Trophy as the VHL's most improved player!

Moving on to a real fan favorite now, it's our newest, but already one of the most revered awards in the league: the Frederik Elmebeck Trophy. Named in the honor of Frederik Elmebeck, a wonderful man who engaged our community with incredible passion and positivity before he was taken from us all far too soon, this award is to honor the lasting legacy of Elmebeck by recognizing the member who best served the VHL community. This season, the nominees, as selected by you, the VHL community, are:

@Doomsday, for his work with new members in a helpful, team-friendly environment as general manager of the Saskatoon Wild!

@fishy , for their continuing efforts towards inclusiveness in the VHL, along providing good vibes for all!

@gorlab, for his contributions to the VHL's graphics community, and efforts towards improving league transparency!

@Hylands, for his dedicated work in creating a flourishing locker room culture as general manager of the Mexico City Kings, along witj podcast excellence!

@Mr_Hatter, for his hard work in various aspects of the VHL community, especially with leading VSN!

@PatrikLaine, for his amazing efforts towards improving mental health around the league, and his dedicated initiative to the Victory Pro-Am off-season tournament!

Congratulations to all of our nominees! The VHL community is absolutely blessed to have so many members that perfectly embody the spirit of Elmebeck, and he would be absolutely thrilled to see the community grow like it has. It would not be possible without any of you, and your efforts are what make the VHL so special. Thank you for all you do to make our community so awesome!

thadthrasher!

The VHL has been treated to quite a ride with Thad, a relative newcomer to the VHL community in the scope of the league's history. However, his impact has been profound and immediate. He's a friendly presence wherever you find him, and instills good vibes every single time he pops up. Thad's priceless videos released leading to and during his run as the GM of Team USA in the WJC have brought us all countless laughs, and he now leads the San Diego Marlins of the VHLM and Team USA in the upcoming World Cup of Hockey. However, it's his efforts with opening up dialogues with our community to help improve our mental health that had the most profound impact, making him an incredibly deserving recipient of the Frederik Elmebeck Trophy!

Thank you, thadthrasher, and congratulations!!

The Scott Boulet Trophy is an award that celebrates the top two-way forward in the VHL, but history has shown us that this is hardware reserved for power forwards these days. Hardly disappointing, as these fan favorite players and VHFL superstars are some of the league's best and most exciting talents! Benny Graves @STZ of the DC Dragons has been a consistent contender for the award, racking up 94 points with 334 hits this season, but can he finally win the Boulet in his final season? Mikko Lahtinen @Beketov is the two-time reigning Boulet winner, and he was spectacular again in Season 76: a VHL-high 121 points, 61 goals, and 329 hits. A dark horse this year is Christian Mingle @Quik, who scored 43 goals, 93 points, and a brutal 354 hits to help power Chicago to championship glory. Lastly, Gary Rush @G_Rush tacked on 34 goals, 98 points, and 261 hits with the New York Americans

Will it be three in a row for Mikko Lahtinen? The winner of the Scott Boulet Trophy is...

Spoiler

trophy_frankjselkelg_AxwpyRu.jpg

Yup... Mikko Lahtinen!

As if he needed to be further cemented as the greatest power forward of his time, the first to three-peat with the Boulet since… oh, of course… Matt Thompson. His domination of the VHL continued, tying for league lead in points, led the league in goals with 61, punished many opponents with his physical play… clinical, elite performances night in and night out. Although Christian Mingle emerged as a legitimate threat to him this season, Lahtinen is still at his peak form as he goes into his final season. Only Lord Karnage @boubabi and David Smalling @Knight have ever won the Scott Boulet Trophy four seasons in a row… can Mikko Lahtinen become the third in his farewell tour?

Congratulations to Mikko Lahtinen, the winner of the Scott Boulet Trophy for the third straight season!

Voting:

Mikko Lahtinen: 7, Christian Mingle: 1, Gary Rush: 1
