mattyIceman 1,229
Presents THE SEASON 75 MOCK ENTRY DRAFT So it's been a long season for most of us. Many newcomers have joined us since the past draft and it's been a very interesting time when it comes to scouting and draft planning. Let's put things into perspective. There have been traditionally four rounds in the VHL Entry Draft and seven rounds in the VHLM Dispersal Draft. Now there's six rounds and possibly around nice or ten rounds for each draft, respectively. The influx of newcomers has created alot of buzz around the league in regards to how the blue team manages things but for the most part, it's nothing short of amazing to me personally. So I'm doing my here scouting thing and I decided to bring you two full rounds, plus a plethora of prospects. 75 scouted prospects for season 75. This list was last updated on Wednesday, November 5. The TPE numbers from that day are the ones on this list. The progress tally is taking into account the last updated week of November 1st and not the current week ending November 8th, leading up to the draft on Monday, November 9th. I'm also taking into account rumors I may have heard. 1. Los Angeles Stars Pistil Stamen @DMaximus C TPE: 268 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Yukon Rush 72 36 48 84 33 286 52 92 12 Progress: 15 14 14 26 24 14 Past 6: 107 The Brazilian has been on Tsujimoto's tail all season vying for the top ranking. He has been over a point-per game with the Yukon Rush and has been consistent in his development. He even helped Team World get to a silver medal, putting up eight points in as many games. Whoever drafts Pistil Stamen will have a solid presence on and off the ice. 2. London United Jolly Greene Giant @DoktorFunk D TPE: 244 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Ottawa Lynx 72 24 48 72 -8 256 138 295 169 Progress: 14 15 19 20 14 14 Past 6: 96 Jolly Greene Giant has probably the most well rounded game of the defensemen of this draft. Putting up a point per game, getting a whopping 295 hits and 169 blocked shots, he sure had his share of the workload and by golly was he Jolly about it. He even put up nine points in Ottawa's seven playoff games. He can be overlooked as a top 5 ranked player, his play doesn't show that one bit. 3. HC Davos Dynamo Kunibuni UnGuri @Berocka G TPE: 224 TEAM GP W L OTL SV % GAA SO GA SV Houston Bulls 67 13 49 5 0.899 3.96 0 267 2640 Progress: 15 17 19 20 19 14 Past 6: 104 The starting goalie in Houston showed up to play every night ready to go, putting in the training, but Houston allowed too many shots for Kunibuni UnGuri to shine. His .899 save % is probably the most telling stat. Here's hoping that UnGuri finds a team to draft this stud goaltender with a solid defensive corps to give him some confidence to round out his game. 4. Chicago Phoenix L @gorlab D TPE: 279 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Mississauga Hounds 72 12 43 55 44 110 80 106 98 Progress: 25 17 14 24 14 14 Past 6: 108 This stud defenseman, plays defense. Like, only defense. L is the ideal defenseman that's looking for a boost to their blue line. He's large, quite strong and has good hands, but he still has plenty to work on. With his whole career ahead, he can work on the things that will help put him over the top and perhaps become the top defender in the VHL someday. 5. New York Americans Joe Kelly @emidas LW TPE: 243 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Halifax 21st 72 14 11 25 26 98 16 25 1 Progress: 14 14 22 30 14 20 Past 6: 114 25 points in 72 games? How is this player ranked so high, you may be asking... well, he's been a victim of playing in a depth role on a top-heavy Halifax 21st team, but his production soared in the post-season. Playing for Team World in the s74 WJC saw him get 11 points with six goals in eight games, so he can play with the best, given he gets the ice time to play. He has been steadily overachieving until lately, let's hope he sticks to his active training. 6. Chicago Phoenix R @Kylrad D TPE: 203 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Mississauga Hounds 72 25 33 58 48 147 62 121 88 Progress: 10 12 12 16 10 12 Past 6: 72 L's partner in crime, R is the more offensively gifted of the duo. He managed a solid 25 goal season with a seriously impressive +48 stat. His fundamental senses are excellent, however he needs to do some power skating and puck handling drills or something because he does lag behind the play. He does have some top pair VHL potential, but his ceiling is far from L's 7. Riga Reign RJ Thatcher @jhatty8 RW TPE: 246 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Mexico City Kings 72 43 43 86 19 412 22 121 51 Progress: 16 21 42 20 14 14 Past 6: 127 With 43 goals and 86 points for the Mexico City Kings, RJ Thatcher is another cannot-miss pure sniper. His shot made its appearance this season, firing 412 pucks, a very high number for a rookie. His playoff contribution wasn't lacking with six points in five games, but it wasn't enough for Mexico to sneak into the next round. His development is excellent, he sure has some star potential. 8. Riga Reign Ove Dyrdahl @GRZ D TPE: 223 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Halifax 21st 72 4 32 36 41 40 105 166 39 Progress: 10 15 12 18 10 10 Past 6: 75 Ove Dyrdahl can be considered a clone of L, really. He's large, skates well, defends very well and doesn't hesitate to use the body. He's a very serviceable defenseman so far and if he rounds his game out, he could enjoy a long and successful career. 9. HC Davos Dynamo Taro Tsujimoto @GustavMattias TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Mississauga Hounds 72 50 69 119 53 452 64 142 24 Progress: 14 20 16 21 25 14 Past 6: 110 Taro is a star in the making. He dominated the league for most of the season and is comfortably ranked #1 in tpe. He showed off his shot without mercy and scored 50 goals and 119 points for the Mississauga Hounds. He will fit nicely in HC Davos. With time his fundamentals will soar and hopefully bring the Dynamo some success in the near future. 10. Riga Reign Sirkants Klamasteris @hedgehog337 G TPE: 249 TEAM GP W L OTL SV % GAA SO GA SV Ottawa Lynx 72 36 28 8 0.899 2.89 4 210 2088 Progress: 23 16 20 14 14 14 Past 6: 101 Sirkants Klamasteris has had a very busy season, playing all the games for the Ottawa Lynx and getting a split 36W-36L season, helping the Lynx to the postseason. His build is pretty solid and with some time, he could fill shoes of the now-retired Greg Eagles' net for the Riga Reign. 11. Warsaw Predators Muffbeav @.sniffuM D TPE: 239 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Yukon Rush 72 31 47 78 42 249 40 65 77 Progress: 0 8 14 20 14 12 Past 6: 68 The American Muffbeav, getting over 30 goals and 78 points playing with Pistil Stamen for the Yukon Rush, has most of the fundamentals ready to play in all facets of the VHL. His development has been solid and steady, keeping pace with the top of the draft class. Warsaw will welcome his presence as they build for the future with Muffbeav. 12. Vancouver Wolves Its Gucci @frescoelmo C TPE: 207 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Las Vegas Aces 72 8 39 47 37 156 52 119 4 Progress: 13 15 13 13 11 13 Past 6: 78 This top prospect out of Las Vegas has shown his remarkable 2 way game. Playing on a solid Aces squad, he managed 47 points, a +37 differential and 119 hits. His point-per-game production in the playoffs is a telling sign he might be turning a corner. Another season with Vegas could potentially see him explode offensively. 13. Toronto Legion Chicken Wing @chikn D TPE: 212 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Miami Marauders 72 29 40 69 -22 250 101 165 128 Progress: 14 19 12 18 14 14 Past 6: 91 This diminutive defenseman uses his speed and puckhandling ability to the best of his abilities. He scored 29 goals and 69 points for Miami, getting a massive 250 shots as well. He gets involved in the game easily, his scoring prowess and defensive positioning is on point. Tracking his progress, he is on par with the top of the draft class and looks forward to make a name for himself. 14. Vancouver Wolves Shawn Andrei Zyuzin @TheLastOlympian07 D TPE: 192 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Philadelphia Reapers 72 11 31 42 5 98 193 233 100 Progress: 14 23 14 22 14 14 Past 6: 101 The highest-ranked prospect from the Philadelphia Reapers' organization is a defensive force. His 42 points and 233 hits make him feared by oncoming attackers. He skates amazingly well, but the rest of his game needs improvement. He's making great progress so far in his career, so another season would with Philadelphia would do him some good. 15. Helsinki Titans Cabe McJake @RedSus LW TPE: 209 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Miami Marauders 40 18 19 37 6 168 18 32 4 Progress: 14 25 25 50 Past 6: 114 Cabe McJake joined the Miami Marauders as a waiver claim over month ago, and he has shown flashes of stardom. Almost a point-per-game with 168 shots in 40 games is pretty incredible. That isn't all. He broke out in the postseason. His build is solid and his senses are on point to be a star sniper in the league. 16. Moscow Menace Rara Rasputin @Victor G TPE: 238 TEAM GP W L OTL SV % GAA SO GA SV Miami Marauders 67 31 34 2 0.882 3.16 5 213 1798 Progress: 14 23 21 20 14 14 Past 6: 106 Russia's greatest love machine had a decent season with the Miami Marauders, posting 31 wins and 5 shutouts and helping Miami into the postseason and doing some damage. He has the fundamentals to be the Moscow Menace's next Raymond Bernard, who announced his retirement. His development path has been excellent and for the forseeable future, shows no signs of slowing down. 17. New York Americans Addison McLaren @tcookie25 LW TPE: 202 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Miami Marauders 46 14 16 30 8 122 86 157 14 Progress: 14 17 25 49 Past 6: 105 Another Miami Marauders claim, signed through waivers around the same as Cabe McJake. He was a solid point contributor with 30 points in 46 games, and like McJake, he too exploded in the postseason. His fundamental abilites are close to being on par with the top VHLM players already and with some more time in the VHLM, he could be a top scorer next season. In a few seasons, he may be a dark horse VHL rookie of the year candidate. 18. Los Angeles Stars Dolant Fertitta @Dolant LW TPE: 203 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Halifax 21st 72 22 19 41 46 143 49 47 6 Progress: 14 14 14 14 14 14 Past 6: 84 A solid prospect from Halifax. Dolant Fertitta played a solid depth role for the 21st, getting 22 goals on 143 shots, definitely an opportunistic scorer. He had a very productive postseason as well, and has shown a steady progression throughout the season and playoffs as well. Definitely a solid choice for a VHL team looking for some potential franchise depth at wing 19. Warsaw Predators Ryan Ryker @Jayrad28 RW TPE: 187 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Houston Bulls 72 29 25 54 -44 246 52 144 88 Progress: 12 17 10 18 10 19 Past 6: 86 Ryan Ryker was the Bulls best skater last season. His team leading 29 goals wasn't enough to make a push for the postseason though. He has a tall frame, skates well and likes to finish his checks. He's an excellent forward that can help out a team that's needing a winger play a strong, robust 200-foot game. 20. NY Americans Gustav Hjalmarsson @McLovin D TPE: 189 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Mississauga Hounds 72 26 64 90 6 256 40 56 79 Progress: 10 11 10 10 8 12 Past 6: 61 Gustav Hjalmarsson had himself a fine season. He demonstrated how to make plays from the back end, with 64 assists. His 26 goals on 256 shots are nothing to ignore, neither are his 19 power play markers on the season. He has been improving his game steadily since he joined Philadelphia last season. Another shot at the cup with the Hounds might get him VHL ready 21. Chicago Phoenix Scotty Kaberle @fromtheinside D TPE: 178 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Saskatoon Wild 38 4 21 25 6 37 38 92 36 Progress: 14 14 20 39 Past 6: 87 A mid-season waiver claim by Saskatoon, Scotty Kaberle quickly got used to the VHLM game and showed off his puck-moving abilities. He's a natural-born playmaker, getting 21 assists and 25 points in 38 games with the Wild. He's solid defensively and even delivered 92 hits. Kaberle has a whole other season to continue developing in the VHLM, so take note of this player. 22. NY Americans Dan Dan @MMFLEX RW TPE: 190 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Mississauga Hounds 72 39 51 90 38 326 40 156 11 Progress: 12 22 12 12 8 10 Past 6: 76 What a great season Dan Dan had. 39 goals and 90 points. He implicates himself at both ends of the ice and rarely makes a blunder, while posting a +/- 38 differential, showing his prowess around the ice. His progression goes unnoticed, but he'll be ready for the VHL after next season. 23. Vancouver Wolves Robert Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito C TPE: 174 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Minnesota Storm 32 14 13 27 -21 116 14 35 17 Progress: 14 19 24 29 Past 6: 86 Minnesota picked up Robert Bouchard on waivers and he got some opportunity to show his stuff. This Canuck kid put up almost a whole point-per-game in his stint with the Storm, but fell victim to Minnesota's league-worst goal differential with a -21 rating. If he continues to develop at a high pace, he could be a steal in this draft. 24. Prague Phantoms Jordan Tate @Aye my name jeff C TPE: 183 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Mississauga Hounds 72 24 40 64 10 274 56 116 13 Progress: 14 14 14 2 12 19 Past 6: 75 The giant New Zealander had a pretty decent first full season after being picked up 28th overall by the Hounds last season. 64 points and 274 shots shows he's implicated in driving offense. His sniper build is on par and he does well in the faceoff circle, so he's a responsible player. His development rate is a bit erratic, sometimes not showing up but has been consistently progressing in bursts. 25. DC Dragons Artair McCloud @Hoopydog RW TPE: 172 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Las Vegas Aces 72 6 5 11 -3 96 16 49 0 Progress: 17 13 12 20 12 10 Past 6: 84 Artair McCloud's rookie season saw him playing a depth role for the Aces. He put up only 11 points in limited ice-time, and no points in the playoffs. His development though has been consistent throughout the season. Possibly next season with the Aces he could put up many more points as a 2nd season player. 26. Riga Reign Cowboy Prout @Prout D TPE: 167 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB San Diego Marlins 40 13 21 34 -37 93 45 84 78 Progress: 14 23 24 14 Past 6: 75 Cowboy Prout benefitted from playing alot of minutes this season, but his -37 is telling of the team's seasonal performance. He skates very well and plays a solid defensive game though, he throws the body around too. He need to do some stickhandling drills to improve and work on his entire offensive game to be a complete player. 27. Riga Reign Steve Eso @Eso C TPE: 176 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Saskatoon Wild 72 14 31 45 12 168 24 55 18 Progress: 8 15 20 8 10 10 Past 6: 71 With the Saskytoon Wild, Steve Eso played a depth role last season. He demonstrated his solid 2 way game with a 45 point season. He doesn't show himself to be a shoot-first or pass-first player, he does play a balanced game though. He needs a full season of playing time playing on a top line with the Wild to complete his junior career and play in the big league. 28. Riga Reign Linus Zetterstrom @Ledge_and_Dairy D TPE: 165 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Las Vegas Aces 72 2 20 22 -4 22 52 88 36 Progress: 14 29 14 10 14 12 Past 6: 93 This Swedish youngster is very solid defensively. He's a pass-first and defense-first type defenseman, but his skating is decent as well. His skillset is defense centric for now, but with progression and guidance, he could be ready for the S76 season with a solid base. He doesn't have a nose for the net yet of have the ability to keep the puck on his stick well, perhaps with regular training he overcomes his deficiencies. Look out for this player GMs 29. Toronto Legion Nero Endrizzi @Jonessee27 C TPE: 169 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Las Vegas Aces 72 3 6 9 -8 79 33 56 14 Progress: 14 14 14 14 14 12 Past 6: 82 Endrizzi hasn't produced as well as he could in a limited role with the Aces, since he's been playing a depth role. He must work on his skating, puck handling, passing and strength as a whole to exploit his excellent offensive and defensive capabilites. 30. Riga Reign Artem Tretiak @Molholt G TPE: 238 TEAM GP W L OTL SV % GAA SO GA SV Houston Bulls 5 2 2 0 0.916 2.33 0 11 131 Progress: 14 20 45 14 14 14 Past 6: 121 Despite warming benches for both Yukon and Houston this season, don't let Artem Tretiak's lack of game stats fool you. He's so close to being VHL ready. He has been training quietly and behind-the-scenes, has shown flashes of greatness. His high .916 and low average of 2.33 as a backup are the proof he's ready to step in anywhere and shut the door on opposing shooters. 31. Helsinki Titans Vivek Weiner @coochiman C TPE: 168 TEAM GP G A PTS (+/-) SHOT PIM HIT SB Miami Marauders 30 7 13 20 11 65 10 18 5 Progress: 14 14 29 Past 6: 57 Yet another Miami Marauders mid-season waiver claim. Vivek had a productive end of season like the previously mentioned McLaren and McJake, and also like them, produced in the playoffs. Weiner is developing well but just not as quickly as his teammates, but his season production and playoff performance could be a good sign he could break out next season. His skating and puck control need a bit of attention but with a whole other season in the M to develop, he might well be VHL ready after next season 32. Vancouver Wolves Thadius Sales @thadthrasher G TPE: 172 TEAM GP W L OTL SV % GAA SO GA SV Halifax 21st 4 3 1 0 0.872 3.5 0 14 109 Progress: 40 17 19 29 Past 6: 105 A waiver claim by the Halifax 21st, he saw limited action in a backup role. He definitely needs more time to season his goaltending game, no doubt he can be a starter next season wherever Sales goes. Sales has some serious potential if he keeps up his progression rate. That does it for the first two rounds. These other prospects deserve consideration for building your teams' prospect pipeline. Happy prospect hunting!
