What is the closest any other team has come to achieving this feat? This was your trick question of the season as other than Toronto, no back-to-back champion actually came that close to a realistic threepeat (i.e. they were chasing an actual 3rd straight cup and made it as far as the finals). And I actually had the wrong myself - I thought the answer was 3 wins, achieved by all of the following: S20-S22 Toronto (Game 7 losers in S20, Game 6 losers in S22) S31-S33 New York (Game 7 losers in S31, Game 6 losers in S33) S39-S41 New York (Game 5 losers in S40) S42-S44 Cologne (Game 7 losers in S43, Game 6 losers in S44) S61-S63 Calgary (Game 7 losers in S61, Game 6 losers in S63) But no, you were actually all right - S1 Calgary losing in Game 6 and then winning in S2 and S3 means that they were closest to kicking the VHL off with a threepeat and were just 2 wins away from doing so. Basically though, no one else has come close and Toronto were 1 win away from a fourpeat to boot. 2. What is the most Sam Pollock Memorial/David Knight Trophies won as the VHL's top GM in a single tenure without winning a Continental Cup? (1 uncapped TPE for @Quik for this one) So only four people got this right?? I thought this was the easier one of the two.
