It was Brett Slobodzian, the man who could have easily been better than Scotty Campbell if not for his retirement, unretirement and subsequent loss of TPE after S3. He led the league in both points and goals as Calgary won 69 of their first 72 games but somehow didn't win the Continental Cup.

2. Which franchise holds the record for most consecutive seasons without a Continental Cup finals appearance? (Credit and 1 uncapped TPE to @Mr_Hatter)

It is of course the team that beat that S1 Calgary in the finals - Vasteras. Their first finals drought would last from S3 to S17 via a detour in Madrid, but after winning their 2nd championship after returning to Vasteras in S26, it would be another 20 season until Vasteras (or now Stockholm) would make the finals again. They wouldn't win another cup but they do have the top 2 finals droughts!
